Search is made up of people doing research, answering trivia questions, looking for jobs and more importantly looking for products and services to buy. The latter category is what we are concerned about in the article.
Consumers, six billion every month (6,000,000,000) in the USA alone use search to find out who they want to buy something they already decided they need from. Talk about quality impressions, they are already planning to buy, it is just a matter of who gets the money and provides te need. Now can you imagine getting access to this volume of highly interested ready to buy customers? Wow! What could this do for your business?
There is more, first of all who is searching, well statistics tell us all gender, race and age. All nationalities and education levels. One thing you know for sure is they need what you sell and another is they have Internet Access which suggests the ability to buy what they are looking for.
So, why has search ballooned over the last two years, the answer is simple, GEO Targeting. In the past when you used search you got results from everywhere and could not find the local services you needed. Once geo targeting was employed, search growth went through the roof.
Now 43% of all searches are local and looking for local.
So three hundred million people a day use search in the USA
Seven out of every ten consumers use search before contacting a business.
Now the issue for your business is simple, how do I reach my share? Well you have a few options
Pay per Click or SEO (Organic Ranking), both offer benefits and the truth is if you can do bith you should to capture all the market.
Google captures 65% of all searches and add in Bing and Yahoo and you have 93% of all searches in three vehicles.
I want to caution you, Yellow Pages Online only account for 1% of searches online.
The real secret is you have to get to page one of these engines for you particular search phrases.
For example, in my area 368,000 people search for tires monthy, if your Tire Store is on page 30 in Google, you will not ever get a chance to sell them. But if you can get your site ranked to page one (http://www.thinkbigsites.com/awunsh.html) in Organics or get the top spot on Pay per Click imagine the potential. By the way 95% of searchers never go past page one. Consider it the prime real estate and you have to own it.
Now how to do this is a science
Pay Per Click requires relevant pages, quality scores and proper bidding to achieve position and the lowest possible click price. Caution here, you pay for every click.
